Manny Pacquiao: Tax evasion case

First and foremost, the only thing that I noticed when I read this few articles and reports about the Manny Pacquio tax case is that, they don’t have this so-called consistency. The media, so as the government and Manny’s allies states information that makes you think who among them is telling the truth. Yes, each party would defend for themselves because they have to. But what I don’t understand is that, why do they have to lie about it and not just tell the truth. It ends the issue, anyway. Because one thing for sure is that one of them must be lying and telling the truth. We just can’t tell who it is. What makes it inconsistent for me is that, in one report, it says there that Manny’s bank accounts were froze but in another report, Guzman said, that BIR did file tax evasion case against Pacquio but has not yet issued any order to freeze his bank accounts.

Based on my readings, I think of course, people have been supporting Manny Pacquio but some are the other way around; which I understand because yes, Manny Pacquio had already so many fights that brought the whole Philippines and even the Filipinos up, but what I think is that it is still wrong for Manny if he really isn’t or wasn’t able to pay his tax. Well, he said he was and he did pay but what made the amount big were the interest and/or surcharge that grew as high as 2 Billion for 2 years--- Commissioner Kim Henares said. Manny said he previously passed the documents the BIR needed but the problem is that, it wasn’t the original. So the real question is; where is the original copy if Manny did pass the documents that show he did pay at IRS? But there is this one statement that says “We have no doubt that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum remitted the required 30% of Pacquio’s earnings in the US in 2008 and 2009to the IRS because if he didn’t, there was no way Manny could travel to the US kike he’s done”--- which makes a big point, honestly. These reports make it very confusing sometimes where you don’t know whom or what you should believe in. Because of these reports, you don’t know if who really is the good person or the one who’s only pretending. So, as far as this issue is concerned, I think I will not give my alliance to anyone just yet.

Community Tax Certificate a.k.a Cedula: Why scrap it?

Cedula

Community Tax Certificate (CTC) a.k.a as cedula is a document prepared, issued, and paid in barangay, city, or municipal office. It is a documentary requirements when filing an income tax return, registering a new business. In some cases, this also serve as an identification document if no available ID at the time like caught in traffic violation.

The code authorizes cities and municipalities to collect annual community tax from corporations, and from residents aged 18 and above who have been employed on a wage basis for at least 30 consecutive days, or who are engaged in business, or who are required by law to file an income tax return.

WHY SCRAP IT?
First, as a form of identification, it is useless. It is easy to secure a cedula under any name. The name on the piece of paper is not necessarily that of the bearer. It has no picture and can carry any signature. Second, Collecting a residence or community tax is wrong. Why should a Filipino be taxed for residing in his own homeland? Third, Collecting a community tax is double taxation. The variable cedula tax paid is based on one’s INCOME and REAL PROPERTY, which are separately taxed already.

I do agree and willing to fight for Community Tax Certificate or Cedula to be removed in a way that it only proves nothing to us, citizens and it is an undue imposition that serves no purpose except to overtax people. As if they're using the money they're taking to make each "barangays" better but no. Supposedly, they should be the ones who are giving the citizens safeness and a better community but what's happening is the other way around. Citizens are the ones giving them what they want by corrupting what is ours. Another thing is that, citizens shouldn't pay for their own land? Aliens may be required to pay tax for the privilege of residing here, but not Filipinos. Not in our own land.
